Role refers to the behavioral attributes an individual is expected to follow when they occupy a social position or status.  Role taking is a circumstance in which a person imagines himself in the shoes of others in order to reflect on his own behaviour. Humans can put themselves in other people's shoes and predict their conduct, which leads to the development of self-awareness. As far as I remember, my first time taking up a role was when I used to play doctor with my friends. We would pretend to operate on a patient and work as seriously as if our friend was genuinely losing his/ her life.
